On April 1st, 1969 Niels Eddau Kock (hereinafter called NEK) and Maria Dorothea Kock (hereinafter called MDK) - in co-operation with the then work colleague Jan Saxberg - founded the company NIKOSAX IMPORT - EXPORT - AGENTUR.
The name NIKOSAX was made by adding NI KO (taken from NIels KOck) with SAX (SAXberg). However, Jan Saxberg left the company after some months on the lookout for other challenges.
NEK and MDK then ran the company on their own - only assisted by a part time worker - from their private address while both performing paid work in other companies.
During 1969 NEK and MDK realised the new possibilities for VAT repayment of Danish and German VAT for international carriers. That was the beginning of NIKOSAX INTERNATIONALT MOMS AGENTUR.
Initially, NIKOSAX's area of operation "only" comprised Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy.
Before 1972 NIKOSAX moved to the first "real" offices, namely the garage of the then GRÆNSEHOTEL in Kruså; very close to the then centre of truck transport and border shipping, TRANSITGÅRDEN.
The garage is actually still standing this very day.
In the summer of 1973 the garage was too small, and the expansion took place in the private flat and winter garden of the GRÆNSEHOTELLET; a move that provided sufficient space for Nikosax to stay there till 1978.
In the summer of 1978 the expansion of the motorway (E3, now E45) from Frøslev to Vejle was completed. The new motorway, the construction of the border customs office Frøslev-Ellund, and the redirection of all truck traffic from Kruså to here caused hectic building activity in the new industrial area of Padborg; around the common Danish / German customs area.
Today, this area is referred to as the Padborg International Transportcenter (PIT). It is the largest transport centre in Northern Europe.
NEK and MDK had predicted the move of the majority of the business activities in Kruså to Padborg at the time of the opening of the motorway and the new customs area in the summer of 1978.
Knowing this, NEK and MDK thus bought the particularly well situated plot, Lejrvej 8, from the municipality of BOV as early as the end of 1977.
In spite of several troubles during the building phase, which among others meant the use of a small wooden vacation house as office building during the first months, use of the new buildings was started on the official opening day of the customs area and the motorway.
The official opening of the motorway was made by then Bundespräsident Walter Scheel and Queen Margrethe II.
In 1980/81 NIKOSAX made the important decision to start using EDP and have made its own specially designed "VAT software". When the EDP application had been developed, it could not immediately be taken into use, since EDP processing of VAT refunds was still quite novel at that time. It took quite some time and struggle with the various involved authorities before the computer system was approved.
1984 saw the expansion of the administration building with the construction of a first floor of app. 650 square metres complete with stair turret. The expansion of the office area meant that NIKOSAX could move into the larger and more appropriate first floor offices, while the daughter company N.E.KOCK A/S enjoyed the additional space in the lower floor.
During 1991-1994 a complete and radical exchange and renovation of our hardware took place, and in co-operation with our employees we developed our own software (Unix; programmed in Informix).
On January 1st, 1993 the single European market was introduced. This transition caused no major changes for NIKOSAX. NIKOSAX maintained the same areas of operation as before the January 1, 1993 and actually acquired new ones.
In April 1993 NIKOSAX INTERNATIONALT MOMS AGENTUR ApS was changed into a limited liability company: NIKOSAX A/S INTERNATIONALT MOMS AGENTUR.
On January 1st, 1994 the single European market was expanded into THE EUROPEAN UNION (EU).
At the end of 1996 NIKOSAX became member of The International VAT Association (IVA), which is the international VAT agencies' spokesentity for dealing with foreign authorities as well as the more serious VAT agencies' industrial organisation.
October 16th, 1997 Giesela L. Jørgensen became the first employee to celebrate her 25th. employment anniversary. This was celebrated with announcements in various papers and an internal reception.
At the beginning of 1998 we started using courier shipments via TNT of our applications including original vouchers to relevant authorities.
At the end of 1998 NIKOSAX by "Dagbladet Børsen" - in co-operation with D&B (Dun&Bradstreet) - was apointed (i.e. identified as) a so called Gazelle company.
April 1st, 1999 NIKOSAX A/S reached its "in-official" 30 years company anniversary.
May 1st, 1999 Eva B. Kristensen celebrated her 25th employment anniversary. This was celebrated with announcements in various papers and an internal reception.
November 1st, 1999 Our colleague through many years, Bernd Mehlschau, accepted the position as vice Director.
November 1999 NIKOSAX by D&B (Dun&Bradstreet) for the fiscal year 1999 was awarded with an AAA Credit Rating which, by the way, is the highest possible in D&B's Scandinavian rating scale.
On May 8th, 2000 at 00:01 o'clock we took our first major step into cyberspace - and became part of World Wide Web (www) when we opened the access to our web site
August 2000 we changed couriers from TNT to UPS, which meant that all shipments as of early September 2000 could be prepared and tracked on their way to the recipient from every employee PC.
November 2000 NIKOSAX by D&B (Dun&Bradstreet) for the fiscal year 2000 was awarded with an AAA Credit Rating which, by the way, is the highest possible in D&B's Scandinavian rating scale.
On November 22nd, 2001 the then vice Director Bernd Mehlschau was appointed Director to jointly lead NIKOSAX A/S together with Director Maria D. Kock.
November 2001 NIKOSAX by D&B (Dun&Bradstreet) for the fiscal year 2001 was awarded with an AAA Credit Rating which, by the way, is the highest possible in D&B's Scandinavian rating scale.
On January 29th, 2002 our web site was awarded a so-called Gold Award by Awards.dk (the Worlds largest Award Site).
At that time Awards.dk had only awarded a total of 20 Gold Awards in all categories.

In May 2002 NIKOSAX became official Danish partner of The European Fiscal Representatives Association (EFRA-Network), which is a Pan-European co-operation in the area of VAT registration.
On July 11th, 2002 NIKOSAX and Fortum Neste - the largest Finnish oil company - initiated their co-operation on the field of VAT refunding and VAT net-invoicing / pre-financing for Neste card holders.
